The Carolina Beach State Park is located in Carolina Beach on Dow Road, nine miles south of Wilmington off NC 421.
The State Park offers a relaxing getaway into our natural and native environment. Just off the main road in Pleasure Island, step into Carolina Beach State Park and feel like you've escaped into a whole other world - one made for the nature lover in you complete with nature walks, hiking, camping, birding, and boating.
Boating, Camping, Hiking, & Birding at Carolina Beach State Park
Carolina Beach State Park includes a marina with an accessible and inexpensive boat launch as well as dock slips for overnight dockage or leases running from 6 to 12 months. The marina is near the mouth of the Cape Fear River, just minutes from Snow's Cut leading to the Intracoastal Waterway. Here you have access to some of North Carolina's best fishing spots.
The park also welcomes campers and hikers, with 83 campsites beneath the pines, and plenty of hiking trails leading along the river and into the pine forest.
This is an amazing area for birding as well, with opportunities to spot hundreds of species including the Great Blue Heron, Snowy Egret, Great Cormorant, Black Vulture, Turkey Vulture, Pelican, Loon, Osprey, and even a Bald Eagle.
