The undeveloped north end of Carolina Beach, known as Freeman Park, is a popular destination for residents and visitors alike. You can access the beach with your four wheel drive vehicle and find your own beachfront area even on the busiest summer day. You can also park your bike or vehicle near the end of Carolina Beach and walk along the beach to the long stretch of the island that reaches the inlet at Masonboro Island. Enjoy surfing, sea kayaking, swimming, and amazing sunsets all right here at Freeman Park.
Surf Casting and Beach Camping at Freeman Park
Freeman Park at the northern tip of Carolina Beach is a haven for beach-goers who relish the natural beauty of waves, sand, and dunes without boardwalks, houses, or hotels to get in the way. Here you can drive your 4x4 vehicle right onto the sand and find the perfect spot along the miles of undeveloped beach to park and fish, swim, play with your dog, sun bathe, or even camp overnight. The best part is that all your beach gear is right there with you in your car – no need to lug all your equipment with you on a hot summer afternoon. Freeman Park is perfect for families, fishing, and all around fun!
